January 23, 2016 - Winter Storm Jonas continues its record-breaking sweep north this evening. States of Emergency have been declared in: DC, GA, KY, MD, NC, NJ, NY, PA, SC, TN and WV. The snow emergency remains in effect for Washington, DC.
Rx Open will show if your pharmacy is open—check before going out, as some grocery stores are open but their pharmacies aren’t. Minimal power outages are affecting some stores. Rx Open remains active and updated twice daily for 17 states, plus Washington, DC.
High winds of up to 60 mph and whiteout conditions a major concern along the East Coast. Blizzard warnings remain in effect until Sunday AM for: Washington, DC; Baltimore, MD; New York City; and Philadelphia, PA. Snowfall predictions for Washington, DC and New York City have been increased, with up to 30 inches possible.
NY declared a travel ban for all non-emergency vehicles on all state and local roads in NYC and Long Island effective at 2:30pm EST. Rail service was suspended at 4:00pm EST. Port Authority bridges and tunnels are closed until further notice. Corporate Emergency Access System (CEAS) was activated in NYC at Level A.
Public transportation has been suspended in DC, Baltimore, and PA (SEPTA). NJ and DE experiencing record-breaking flooding, with mandatory and voluntary evacuations in NJ.
Despite these conditions, as of the posting of this blog, we have received no messages requesting assistance for access or re-entry. Our BEOC contacts have noted that they have not yet received requests either.
