Giving the Gift of Preparedness

Giving the Gift of Preparedness

November 27, 2017

November 27, 2017 - With the holiday season upon us and as we make plans to gather with friends and family, our team at Healthcare Ready would like to take this time to say thank you to our steadfast supporters who’ve so generously given of their time, money and resources this year in the midst of back-to-back, record-breaking natural disasters. Your support of our efforts provided critical assistance to communities in need, helping connect patients and healthcare facilities to essential medicines, resources and information.

From the entire Healthcare Ready family, we thank you!

In particular, we’d like to say a special thank you to our Board of Directors for their generous support of Healthcare Ready as we responded to Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria and Nate. We’d also like to recognize the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) for their generous grant and continued support of Rx Open, a tool provided by Healthcare Ready that connects patients in need to working pharmacies in the wake of a natural disaster. In addition, we’re grateful for the partnerships we’ve maintained with healthcare distributors, including Cardinal Health and AmerisourceBergen, both of whom contributed additional support to our emergency operations in 2017. Finally, we were thrilled to welcome Amgen as a member of Healthcare Ready during this hurricane season and look forward to future collaboration as we work together to support patient preparedness in the wake of disasters.

These donations, and many from individuals, enabled us to track and respond to needs throughout the country, including the Flint water crisis and Zika, 4 hurricanes, the California Wildfires, and Hepatitis A outbreaks during 70+ days of activation – our longest activation period to date. During this time, we provided support and direct assistance to over 1,000 patients and 140 healthcare facilities.

We truly cannot continue our work without your help!

That’s why we ask that after the turkey is carved, football is watched and purchases are made on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, you consider donating to Healthcare Ready on Giving Tuesday, November 28th. This special day is set aside during the season of giving, for a sole purpose: to take a moment and give back to organizations that are truly working day-in and day-out to make a difference in the lives of those who need additional support. We hope you will choose Healthcare Ready on this day and encourage your colleagues, friends and family to do the same. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Donations may be made through our website or by mailing a check to 950 F Street NW, Suite 300, Washington, DC 20004. Additional details are available here.
