As Hurricane Irma barrels over the Caribbean toward Florida and we grapple with the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, it's clear that Healthcare Ready must mobilize an unprecedented effort. I urge you to support our work to help people struck by disaster address their most urgent health needs.
The Healthcare Ready team began fielding urgent requests for medicines, supplies, healthcare services and transport on Aug 24, which marked the beginning of the longest activation in our history. Yet, even as Irma poses a new threat to millions, thousands of communities and families across the Texas and Louisiana areas still face urgent health needs, even as flood waters recede.
How have we helped affected communities? For the last 15 days, Rx Open has been tracking the status of pharmacies in Texas and Louisiana. We have now activated the map for Puerto Rico, and will activate the map for the Southeast on Friday. This real time information helps people restore access to the medications they rely on to stay healthy and out of already overburdened hospitals. In our emergency command center, our team has been working tirelessly to bridge response efforts, and support front-line disaster responders and individual patients looking for medicines and other resources. The work has been intense and continuous, and has stretched our organization in ways that we’ve never experienced before.
We can't continue this work without your help. Please donate to support our important work. Private sector organizations that can offer medicines, supplies or transport can contact us to partner in our efforts.
